FAQ
How do I use the Calla Comfort Insert?
Sanitize before first use.
1. Remove any existing inserts or cushions from the flange of your pump.
2. Hold the pump securely in one hand and gently insert the insert into the flange, narrow end first, pushing it in evenly until fully seated. Ensure it fits snugly inside the funnel with no gaps. The orientation of the insert does not matter.
3. Place your nipple through the opening and press the funnel, with the Calla insert inside, firmly against your breast. When applied, the insert gently folds around the areola, allowing the nipple to settle comfortably in the center of the insert.
4. Turn on your pump and use it as you normally would. For setup and operation, follow the instructions provided by your breast pump manufacturer. You may need to slightly increase the suction strength to achieve the same vacuum level as without using the Calla Comfort Insert.
5. When finished, and while the insert is still attached to your breast, gently lift the edge of the insert to allow air into the funnel and release the vacuum seal.
What is the Calla Comfort Insert made of?
It is made of 100% medical-grade silicone. The inserts are manufactured in Europe.
How do I clean the Calla Comfort Insert?
Before first use:
Wash and sanitise the insert.
After each use:
Clean with plenty of warm, soapy water (approx. 30°C). Use a commercially available washing-up liquid, preferably without artificial fragrances or colouring (pH-neutral). Rinse with cold, clean drinking-quality water for 10–15 seconds.
Daily sanitising:
Cover the insert with water and boil for at least 5 minutes.
Drying:
Dry with a clean cloth or leave to air dry on a clean cloth, placed upside down to allow water to drain from the corrugated section. Do not store in an airtight container or bag while moist. Ensure all residual moisture is fully dried.
Additional Cleaning Instructions:
• Clean the insert immediately after use to prevent milk residue from drying and to reduce bacterial growth
• Use only drinking-quality water for cleaning
• Take care not to damage the insert when using a brush
• Do not use abrasive washing-up liquids or detergents
